Layering & warmth

18 September 2023

Now that we’re midway through September, you may well have your thoughts on the coming colder winter months. Winter golf is a different animal altogether when compared to playing in the height of summer, so it’s important you’re prepared and equipped with the appropriate clothing.

One of the reasons the interim period between the warmer and colder seasons can be so difficult to anticipate is climate. We’ve all been there where we’ve been caught in the rain without a proper waterproof on, or stepped out onto the course on a freezing day without a decently insulating mid-layer. Not being prepared for the weather really disrupts our concentration and stops us from enjoying our golf.

Rather than sticking on any old jacket, winter golf clothing is specifically designed to keep you warm and focused when out on the course. The materials used are stretchy and comfy to give you that desirable combination of freedom of movement to swing your clubs freely and a warm snug core.

We’re so excited to announce that we now have the latest winter golf clothing from Under Armour lining the shelves of our pro shop! You can be among the first to try on one of these stunning pieces.

Please read on as we give you a rundown of some of the fantastic mid-layers that are guaranteed to keep you cozy this winter.

The Storm Daytona Mid-layer

It’s important to wrap up warm when the autumnal chills start to descend upon the golf course. The Storm Daytona mid-layer will have you smiling through the harsh conditions all round long. This jacket features a colour block pattern with a horizontal stripe on the torso separating the dominant colour. The quarter-zip on this piece can be done up to the neck to stop any cold air going down the back of your neck.

When you’re swinging your clubs at a high rate of speed, you’ll be needing a jacket that can keep up with you. That’s where the Storm Mid-layer from Under Armour comes into play. This jacket is made of a stretchy polyester that moves with your body, letting you keep all your natural momentum and mobility as you twist yourself around. You’ll be playing in peak performance when you’re wearing this mid-layer, plus you’ll be safe and warm from the harsh seasonal elements.

The Storm Windstrike Mid-layer

There’s no need to oversimplify it. You’ll feel fantastic when you’re clad in the Storm Windstrike Mid-layer, and you’ll feel warm playing golf in the cold winter winds. This jacket features a single colour on the torso and sleeves with a secondary contrasting tone appearing on the shoulders. The Under Armour brand name appears on the right of the chest.

The Storm Revo Jacket

Did you know that one of the reasons why winter clothes tend to be darker colours is that dark surfaces absorb more light, in turn keeping us warmer? Well now you do. You’ll generate plenty of warmth for your upper body when you wear the navy mid-layer pictured above. The Under Armour’s Storm Revo Jacket is the same subtle blue all over, with the Under Armour brand name appearing in white on the chest.

Under Armour makes the highest quality golf clothing on the market. If you’re on the lookout for a new mid-layer this autumn and you’re unsure of which jacket is the one for you, we’d be more than happy to show you our selection of winter golf clothing in the pro shop.
