Captains weekend 2015
Congratulations to our captain Terry Hateley-Lowe for putting on a fantastic weekend for the members to participate in and enjoy! Also a big thank you must go to the many people who helped the event to run so smoothly.
Garry Lacy once again won the overall gross prize with John Heaton collecting the prize for second overall gross. Day 1 best gross was won by Andy Addison and day 2 best gross was won by David Houghton.
The overall nett prize was won by the 2010 champion and last years' runner up Garry Barker; who followed a score of 66 with a score of 68 for a 6 under par total! Mark Whittle finished second with a first day score of 63 followed by a 72 for a 5 under par total, and in third place was Mark Thorpe with scores of 66 & 72 finishing 2 under par. Mark Thorpe gets a lot of stick from his friends that he plays with and I'm sure he will be over the moon with his performance!
Garry sat with my assistant John in the presentation and thanked him for helping his golf this year. Garry has recently changed his driver to the new Titleist 915 and said he hit so many more fairways than he did with his previous driver; he also bought a set of Callaway Apex irons last year which perform great. Mark Whittle was also very pleased with his new PING G30 driver which he bought about a month ago.
All of the clubs mentioned are available to try and be fitted for in The Swing Studio and hopefully we can be writing about your success soon!

Lady Captain's day On a similar note congratulations to
Kath Smith who had her Lady Captains day this Wednesday which was a great success!
Noreen Boardman, Eryl Cross, Anne Wright, Debbie Tedd and
Trish Mawdsley all tied on the same score of 72 with Noreen winning on a card countback.
Getting the ball up and down… more frequently! How many times have you felt like you've got your opponent beaten with a solid approach to the green, only to watch them get up and down from the greenside rough… again! It's a great asset to have and frustrating if you're on the receiving end, especially in a matchplay situation.
Whether it's learning how to apply spin on your chip shots (see below) or adding a bump-and-run to your locker, we can help improve your own short game skills. It's not always a matter of getting too technical, either, often it's a bit of advice on where your hands are or how tightly you're gripping your club, which prove to be real game changers.
It's amazing how small improvements can end up giving your whole game a boost, not to mention the enjoyment factor you'll get by scrambling really well. Give the article below a read and speak to us if you want us to check over your short game.
