Return to golf There’s lots of talk in the media about a possibility of golf returning very soon! I hope this is true but it won’t be as we know it, there will still be lots of restrictions in place and possibly only allowed to play in two balls. I know this won't please everyone but its a lot better than what we have now. The main thing is that we can all be safe and hopefully enjoy our great game for a long time to come. I think that we all have as golfers a responsibility to everyone to show that we can conduct ourselves in a way that makes the return to golf safe so that it doesn’t come under the spotlight in any negative way. I know that we as a club will do this but having seen certain things on social media recently I’m not sure that will be the case throughout the golfing community. Please bear with us while we try and get your beautiful course a safe place for you to get back golfing. If you have read Kevin’s report you will know that there has been just himself and Bob keeping on top of the course in our absence and while the course will be ready for you to play the return of the full staff will get us into tip top condition to enjoy the rest of the year. We will all have to do things slightly differently but I am looking forward to welcoming you all back soon. Hopefully you have seen the video chat between myself, Garry and Kevin and that this has answered a few of your questions, if you haven’t seen it yet it's on the club website courtesy of Gerry Ryder. The main thing was to try and let you know what to expect once lockdown is eased and we can play some golf. There are no certainties yet despite what you may have heard on social media etc as its all guess work. Whenever the return to golf is we will try to make it as enjoyable as possible but we will all need a little patience until things return to normal. You will have heard Kevin say that Bobs dad is Derrick Cooper who is a former European tour player and winner who now is an official on the European Senior Tour. I have known Derrick for 40 years and he was a terrific player who would have done well playing on the Senior Tour but he decided he had had enough Tournament golf and decided to become a Referee instead and is now Tournament Director, so as Kevin says Bob comes from a good golfing pedigree.
