Wish us luck... Luckily for eight of us we will be escaping the rain as we are off to Portugal next week for the European Eights Event. Our team of Alan Curties, Gerry Ryder, Ste Woods, Dave Parry, Dave Lee, Ady Price, Ian Gallagher and I are ready to take Portugal by storm! This is a fantastic event played over the amazing Quinta do Lago resort which has just been named as winner of the Best Luxury Golf Clubs in the Algarve. We will be returning for the third year running and hoping to emulate our victory from 2018.

Brooks puts his foot down Despite not swinging a club over the weekend, world number two Brooks Koepka still made plenty of headlines when he called out Patrick Reed for cheating. During a fascinating live interview last week, he said: “I don't know what he was doing, building sandcastles in the sand, but you know where your club is.” The incident relates to the Hero World Challenge when Reed was handed a two-stroke penalty for appearing to improve his lie in the bunker – an incident which Reed maintains was merely a mistake. Former TV analyst Peter Kostis waded in claiming he has seen Reed "improve his lie four times now’."
However, it seems to have motivated Reed who went on to silence his critics winning the WGC Mexico Championship by a single shot from Bryson DeChambeau. But with foul play in the headlines, we want to know whether you think there is a difference between breaking the rules and cheating? Click here to take the poll.

Last week we revealed a remarkable statistic regarding the number of golfers playing grips that are over a year old, but what impact does that actually have on your game? Well, we decided to do some digging... |
| Tension whilst gripping | Grips are made from rubber and are prone to wear and tear, just like the tyres on your car. When they become worn, your grips will lose tackiness and your hands will start to slip during the swing, resulting in poorer shots.
The thing is, you’ll likely overcompensate by holding on to your clubs too tight, creating more tension and stiffness during the swing.
|
| Limited time offer in-store now | We know it sounds all doom and gloom, but it does make a huge difference to your game. That's why we're running this promotion at Ashton In Makerfield Golf Club, so you can experience the benefits of a new grip first hand.
There’s no catch, just pop by the shop before your next round to take advantage. |
