Winter Competitions
The first winter competition was played last Saturday and the winner was none other than our soon to be elected Captain Ian Glover along with playing partner Josh Woods who now lose the statutory 3 shots off their handicap.
As always these are popular competitions played in 4 ball formats and with the smell of bacon at the halfway house, the weather seems unimportant. We have adapted the usual 14 hole format slightly by introducing a temporary card which only has stroke indexes 1-14. It is the usual winter ¾ handicap but with the new stroke index system this should be better for all concerned.
The weather hasn’t been kind of late so please be aware that carrying only could be in force, this has worked well and some players who struggle to carry all the way round have used buggies and trolleys which must stay on paths on the back 7 holes and then carried for the top 7.
We are on a choice of preferred lies or mats through the green and also rake and place in bunkers. As these are all played in pairs if the weather is inclement and you are thinking of not playing would you please consult with your playing partners before crying off and leaving a 2 ball on their own which then spoils their day.
