Congratulations to John Heaton!

John Heaton won the Cansfield Cup on Saturday with a superb 67-4-63! John was bitterly disappointed on missing out on this years' Victory Trophy team and has been working very hard with me in The Swing Studio, ensuring he makes the team this year. John birdied 15, 16 & 18 to finish with a sublime 67, good to see the hard work paying off!

There were plenty more good scores on Saturday including John Molyneux with a nett 64, Stuart Glover with a nett 66 and Dave Houghton shooting a 73-7-66. Dave is another player who has worked extremely hard on his golf this season and deserves every good score he gets! Hopefully Dave can continue the good form and get down to 5 by the end of the season (currently playing off 5.8). When he came to me for lessons a year ago he said his main goal was to get back to playing off 5.

Both John and Dave have benefited greatly from not only lessons but custom fitting this year! Both were fitted for Callaway driver and irons and are hitting the ball straighter and further. Dave especially (who struggles for distance but is very accurate) added 30 yards to his drives and is hitting his irons more than a club further.

Singles Knockout

Congratulations to Ian Gallagher and Paul McVeigh who have made it through to the final of the singles knockout. Chris Jackson and Andy Ivanauskas were the unlucky two who were beat in the semis, nevertheless a great effort to get that far in the event!

Liverpool Golf Alliance

Me and my assistant John, who has just turned professional, will be playing in the Liverpool Alliance this winter. These are Pro-Am events usually held every Wednesday at some fantastic local courses. If any members are interested in the events and would like to play then please speak to my assistant John and he will give you more information. Places are filling up very quickly so if you are interested please get in touch, we currently have one spot left for Dunham Forest on 1st October, and one spot for Hesketh on the 8th October. The handicap limit to play is 18.

By the time you read this, Team Europe may already be well on their way to winning the Ryder Cup… again! Who knows, maybe the Americans will claim the trophy for the first time since Valhalla in 2008.

If you're watching and you can separate yourself from the theatre, we recommend trying to learn a thing or two from the pros. One of the things that strikes us during Ryder Cup week is how deadly accurate they are from 120 yards and in. Given the freedom to attack the pins, it can turn into a real birdie fest.
