Congratulations Sam
I was delighted on Tuesday when Sam Hollowed came in after his round in the Senior Stableford to tell me he had scored 43 points!
Sam is part way through a course of lessons and has really started to understand and enjoy his game.
When I found out he had been disqualified because he had not put his handicap on his card I was gutted for him.
His latest lesson has been aimed at filling in his scorecard, and as you can see in the picture it seems to be going well!!
The rules although sometimes seeming harsh are part of what make golf such a great game and I am sure Sam will not make the same mistake again.
Congratulations Sam on a fantastic score and keep up the practice.
Well done to Dave Hague who had an excellent score of 39 points and went on to win.

Working Parties
Every week for many years we look after the working parties with a hot drink and sometimes even biscuits!!
The members who give up their time make a fantastic difference to the presentation of the course and at present you will see them laying a pathway to the 8th tee.
I am very grateful to the efforts they put in which enhances the work the greenstaff can get through and makes a real difference to the overall experience when playing. You will know who they are and if anyone would like to join them they would be more than welcome.
Every golf club will have its unsung heroes who work behind the scenes and I think here at Ashton we have possibly more than most.
Well done to all of you who get stuck in and help to keep our golf club one of the best places around to become a member.
