Never Give Up!!

With the regular season almost finished and the Winter Comps about to start I would like to congratulate all this Year’s Competition Winners.

There have been many good scores and stories this year but one that should stay in your memory bank is when 2 weeks ago Dave Hackett won the Monthly Medal with a great score of 77-10-67 which was even better as Dave managed to take 8 at the 1st Hole!! Many golfers would admit to possibly giving up after that but Dave got stuck in and got the win. Next time you get off to a bad start use this as a reminder of what can happen.

One such person who said he would have given up at this point was Mick Kenny who won the following competition with a superb 74-10-64 including a 7 at the last!! Good job it wasn't on the 1st Mick? Last Saturday was a tough day with wind and rain and Mick had to be persuaded by his playing partners to venture out and luckily he did so I think you owe them a drink Mick and it shows you should never give up.

The previous week was also won by a 10 Handicapper Bob Wilson with 74-10-64 and obviously these 3 are all now single figure golfers.

Massive congratulations to all Winners, here is a list of a few of the recent ones:

- Brian Bateman won the Cansfield cup with a nett 62.
- Paul Maloney and Liam Jones won the September medal 1st and 2nd Division with 67 and 64.
- Dennis Killiea won the 8th September Stableford with 39 points.
- Grant Benson sneaked in and won the Gerrard Cup with a nett 65 and Mr Consistency Ian Shaw won the Merit Trophy.

Singles Knockout - John Sheron beat Carl Almond in the Final.
Pairs Knockout - Ste Woods and Neil Edwards beat Craig Rimmer and Gary Hankinson.
Merit Cup - Winner Ian Shaw, 2nd Lee Cunliffe, 3rd Connor Winstanley.
Rookie of the Year - Gary Shepherd, Runner up Stuart Finch.

Rules Information Evening - SAVE THE DATE

I have been asked a lot about the New Rules changes coming into force in January 2019 and I have booked a friend of mine who is a PGA RULES OFFICIAL for Tuesday 4th December.

Simon Edwards as well as being a RULES OFFICIAL is a top class Golf Professional so I am sure this will be an interesting evening. Please try and attend if you would like to have a clear understanding of the Changes which are coming very soon. The evening will start around 7pm and will be FREE to members.

An Ace Week For Master Eddie

The British Masters took place at Walton Heath in Surrey last week and was hosted by the local favourite, Justin Rose. The tournament had a stark weather contrast from start to finish with conditions declining and making it a real grind for the players. The caddies were certainly tested during the final round trying to keep their players warm and dry. It was a day of umbrellas, waterproofs and wearing the correct layering, which at this time of year can help or hinder your round.

Sunday - Final Round

The tournament winner was Eddie Pepperell who dealt with the conditions the best and led from start to finish to claim a two-shot victory. Eddie’s highlight of the week was his impressive hole-in-one on Thursday at the ninth hole, earning £20,000 for charity and a celebratory bottle of wine from the tournament host. Pepperell now moves up to 33rd in the world rankings and with it an invite to next year’s biggest tournaments including his first trip to The Masters at Augusta.

It's time for a change

Spotlight: New PING Sigma 2 putters
