And the Champion Golfer of the year is
The 36 Hole Club championship was played last Saturday in sweltering heat and was once again won by Garry Lacy with scores of 67 and 69.
The course is in excellent condition and a huge thanks for that to Garry and his greenstaff who are doing a great job in providing us with such a well presented Golf course.
After the first round Garry was tied on 67 with "young John out of the shop" John Findlater who shot a fine 67 to keep Garry on his toes.
3 shots further back on 70 were Andy Addison , Declan Fishwick and Ian Gallagher, who could easily have been joined by Stuart Glover who had 4 birdies on the run from the 10th hole but unfortunately threw in a 7 and an 8!! Nonetheless a great effort from the Big man.
The afternoon round saw most people fading in the heat, John added a 77, Declan a 74 and Andy a 72 to finish 2nd, 6 shots behind Garry.
The 36 Hole Nett was won with 2 great rounds from John Banasko a 67 and a 66 with Paul Woods 2nd 3 shots back. A great days golf followed by a Barbecue and a fantastic afternoon on the patio with all players and many spectators attending and enjoying the Golf and the sunshine.
Richard Evans had yet again organised the event with lots of help from members who gave up their day to help out in all sorts of roles from starting, spotting, scoring and barbecuing, to make the Club Championship a fantastic event and one to live up to its name.
Its a long list of helpers who make the event so popular and a massive thank you to all of the following. Neil Davies, John Birchall, Dave Jones, Chris Dawson, Richard Rawsthorne , Paul Featherstone , Paul Webster, Dave Crawford, Steve Rimmer, Graham Derbyshire, Matthew Holland, Mike Rimmer, Dave Cahill and flown in specially from Australia Ian Cahill.
