The U.S Open, the World Cup and the England v Sri Lanka all start on Thursday as we enter a bumper spell of sport with England taking on the All Blacks in the 2nd Rugby Test on Saturday as well as England v Italy in the football. I hope you all still find time to come and play golf!

Victory Trophy 2014

Congratulations to all the boys from Ashton who have qualified for this years event being held at Haydock Park! This year we have got a great mix of young talent and some seasoned veterans in there too.

Regulars such as Garry Lacy, Andy Addison, Ian Gallagher and Phil Smith are all in the side with a determined Ian Bromilow back in the team after missing out last year.

John Findlater, Craig Rimmer and Declan Fishwick were all part of the winning junior side last year and hopefully they can help the team repeat that feat this year.

Making up the 10 are Ian Lyon and Matty Whitfield who have both played some great golf in the last 12 months to secure their place. The two reserves are John Heaton and Damon Lawrenson, who are both also in good form should they be needed.

This years Captain Eric Taylor, is really looking forward to the day and has been telling all his captains that we are flying a guy in from the States as Andy is currently away in America!

I played a practice round with John behind Ian Gallagher and Graham Hurst on Monday and Graham (Ian's caddie for Trophy) shot an amazing 72 gross! The guy they played with couldn't believe that Graham was caddying for Ian, he thought it was the other way round!

The course looks good at Haydock and our Team will be glad of your support so please come along and watch the action.
