On The Tee...
Senior Open Championship
On Monday Gary and I played in the Qualifying for the Senior Open Championship. Whilst I was having possibly the worst day on a golf course in my entire life at Panmure, I am delighted to say that Gary shot a great score of 70 at Monifieth to qualify for the Senior Open at Carnoustie.
There were over 400 players trying to qualify, and Gary grabbed 1 of the 38 spots available to join the elite of Senior world Golf at this year's Championship.
A fantastic achievement and I know you will all be wishing him well and tuning in to watch the coverage.
Gary tees off in the 1st round at 3.40pm with his pal Ste Smith on the bag, I think Phil Smith is trying to take over the role, but the R&A are worried about club throwing caddies.
It's a fantastic experience to caddy in a Major Championship let alone play in one, so Ste be on your best behaviour...
This weekend is Captain's weekend and there is a great turn out of over 170 players over the 2 days. Our Captain
Lol McNally will be there to wish you all well, and let's hope for some good weather for what is always a special event in our calendar.
The course is looking great and I am sure there will be some very good scoring.
Good luck to all competitors and Good luck Mr Captain I hope the weekend goes well for you.
The Open ChampionshipCongratulations to Henrik Stenson on a truly incredible victory.
To go out leading the Open by 1 shot and then produce that quality of golf is quite remarkable. Also to think that Mickelson's score of 17 under would have won all but 1, I think of every other Open ever played, what a standard.
There were so many superlatives on the day, Mickelson was awesome shooting a bogey free 65 in the last round, coming from 1 behind that would almost always win and he finished 11 shots clear of 3rd place JB Holmes.
To shoot a record 63 with 10 birdies is just mind blowing on such a difficult course, Stenson is a very worthy winner.
Ken Thomas is happy with Stenson and JB Holmes as he drew them both in our sweep getting a 1st and 3rd place as well as best score 3 of the 4 days, not bad eh Ken.
